Synopsis

Product Description
THE BASTARD NOISE "Rogue Astronaut" (Gravity) From the experimental sound/noise project whose roots were elemental and definitive to more than one genre over the last two decades Gravity issues this revolutionary full length studio recording from THE BASTARD NOISE titled "Rogue Astronaut". This product documents tightly written, rehearsed and recorded work from "the Skull's" current complement of artists: Eric Wood The mind who helped define "Power Violence" as founding member of legendary projects NEANDERTHAL and MAN IS THE BASTARD. His reputation ranges from that of musical genius to full blown audio madman who is undoubtedly the standard bearer of the "Skull" franchise. He is unparalleled in the scope of his talents: from progressive writing and execution as bassist to undisputed mastery at one-of-a-kind arcane high-voltage audio hardware and aptitude at the rumored Sound-Coil apparatus; A vocal range of multiple personalities that would dizzy the most demented schizophrenic: demon drill-sergeant, blistering hyper-metal gremlin, impossible un-dead behemoth monster, bone chilling apparition and even haunting choir boy whose voice is so sweet that Friar Tuck's robe forms a pup-tent before drifting off to enchantment. Leila Abdul Rauf The Multi-talented bandleader of San Francisco based pioneering metal outfit SAROS and key member of Kris Force's dark ambient/neo-classical AMBER ASYLUM, whose talents are manifold as writer, multi-instrumental musician & vocalist. W. T. Nelson THE BASTARD NOISE formative member (along with Henry Barnes & Eric Wood) who stepped in as member of MAN IS THE BASTARD as Barnes pursued AMPS FOR CHRIST (5RC records). Currently in Los Angeles based trio GERONIMO (Three One G Records) plus UNICORN (House Pig Records) and the builder of much of the unexampled equipment that has helped lend THE BASTARD NOISE its unique sound over the years (some presently available from his artisan group's outlet Trogotronic). THE BASTARD NOISE heritage is recognized around the world due to the extensive catalog of well over 100 international releases since 1991. The marque of its pre-human skull logo has come to stand for genuineness and validity in the underground the world over as tattoos, patches, stickers, websites, flyers and other forms of tribute; Within this "cult of The Skull" THE BASTARD NOISE logo has become a sign that stands for new generations of individuals who are not only fans but zealous believers in a philosophy which questions humanity's cruel tyranny over all (including itself) which remains the project's dominant theme. "Rogue Astronaut" contains six compositions powerfully sequenced, chaptered and balanced for maximum sensory perception. Instrumentation is unusual, unique and bizarre; Purpose-built high voltage analog tubes glow and hum illustrating everything from heavenly landscapes to ruthless mechanized assaults en route to distant planetary scenes. Details are few but one thing is certain: instruments such as these are unprecedented yet the mastery and control over them make Rogue Astronaut a work more akin to classical music than Punk Rock or Noise; While electronic in nature, machinery like the "Sonic Coil" sound as an entire big city philharmonic string section manifest in your sound system. The compositions fearlessly crush stereotypes with seasonings of the Barons' FORBIDDEN PLANET soundtrack, tiny spots of ENO's "ANOTHER GREEN WORLD" L.P. and implements challenging lyrical and vocal strategy.
