CD Reviews

Overlooked & Out of Print

"At first I will state some pride to own this CD which I have just received. I also own the vinyl version of the album, but so far I wasn't aware that the CD version appears not to be available anymore. Well, I finally obtained it. Believe me, you don't wanna know what I paid for it. I don't wanna know myself. In the face of this I'm perfectly aware of the oddity of paying a fortune for a CD, but Barry White has a special meaning to me, because I was already introduced to his music as a 14 y.o. teenager. My father loved the music of 'the man'. So I somehow continue with that tradition, and his sudden death in summer 2003 triggered the wish to make sure I have the entire discography.

After the introduction with "Our Theme" the track "I Want You" is undeniably the first highlight of the album. Maybe it was even release as a single, I couldn't say for sure. "You're the Only One for Me", "This Love", "You" is more or less filling material, only of average quality. "Better Love Is" is a song in the tradition of the early B.W. successes, and it's also a true duet, where both singers take over a certain verse and join each other on the refrain. A lovely ballad of the two. "We Can't Let Go Of Love" is the next highlight of the album, and the typical "Didn't We Make It Happen" is the final highlight on the record.

Barry & Glodean is not necessarily a highlight of the Barry White discography but a solid album which will please everyone who enjoys listening to this great soul artist. Too bad this CD is out of print, but now that I have it, I wouldn't be surprised if a low-budget version is released anytime soon. ... ha ha ..."
An overlooked gem, and a must for BW fans

"I like this album. Everything flows nicely. The intro is cool start to an album that takes us on a romantic journey into the love life of Barry and Glodean.

I love the track "This Love""
