Definitely Check This Out

"I am listening to this album as I write this. Unbelievable. Banyan is headed up by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins. Yes, the drumming is great. In addition, all the instrumentation is great, and this involves all kinds of percussive sounds, trumpet, clarinet, piano, bass, guitar, synthesizers, sound effects, singing, birdsong, watersplashes. The music evolves and slips around and grooves, and there is not one phrase that is not well orchestrated. These are first-rate musicians that create synergy. A couple of the tunes have vocals - fun ones at that, one featuring a really sexy voice (Cindy Juarez) in "Keep the Change." I can easily play this whole album without skipping around for favorites. Recently, I've realized that great music has been created within the past few years. Sometimes I just don't get to hear it on the radio. Once again, this album is unbelievable. I am certainly looking forward to hearing Banyan's first album."
