"although la banda gorda exists already more than two decades and is possibly the most popular band in the dominican republic's merengue scene, this album shows in which direction the development of this music could be able to go if all the bands would make the same progress with each album like this guys. a lot of different beats and rhythms (but it is still merengue which caracterizes almost the whole record) together with the typical "i love her so much but i don't know how to show it" or "she left me for this other guy but i will never be able to forget her and i'll do everything to get her back" lyrics are not a guarantee for a good album normally, but the ensemble of a pretty good production and musician combinated with an extraordinary songwriter, and the process of trying to make this record as good as possible are much more than that: they are an important fact that the development of that kind of music will no stop before everybody dances to the common "sounds as boring as always" reggae or salsa beats. believe me and check "pa' que no descuides lo tuyo" o "alegre y triste", and you'll never get this two songs out of your ears!"
