"There are many excellent recordings of the motets...but this tops my list. The Netherlands Chamber Choir are SOOOOOO good. Recorded sound from Channel is first rate."

"I am very happy with this recording of the Bach Motets. Peter Dijstra and the Nederlands Chamber Choir do a wonderful job of interpreting and performing this perfect music to perfection. I bought this CD because I am writing a paper about the motet "Jesu Meine Freude". In the listening and studying, I have discovered that the Choir takes into account every nuance of text and music. When a line repeats, they find a way to nuance the repeat so it is even more beautiful the second time. To aid their expression of the text, they choose moderate tempos and have only light continuo accompaniment, so that the motets sound like what they are, choral pieces, rather than like some busy Baroque concerto. Always the music enhances and exposits the words, and always the words are a medium for the music, just as J. S. Bach intended. And the recording quality is so good that the consummate musicianship always shines through."
