"Evegeni Koroliov is an awesome Bach player whose output includes The Art of Fugue, Goldberg Variations, Inventions & Sinfonias, & the WTC. Hopefully he will eventually record the English & French Suites as well as the Partitas. This disc, unlike some of the others, is readily available & also a great introduction to Koroliov's approach to Bach. His treatments have unbelievable rhythmic drive & color - nothing dry or monochromatic here; and the recorded sound is gorgeous. Five stars is not enough...."

"If you haven't had the thrill of enjoying Koroliov's Bach, you are in for a treat. Whether it is his Goldberg Variations, The Well Tempered Clavier, The Art of the Fugue, The French Overture & Italian Concerto, it is all worth accumulating. If you can't get some of the titles from Amazon, you'll just have to spend the extra money to order them online from [...] which is his label in Germany. Costs a lot, but worth every Euro. If you've ever wondered who took up the mantle of Glenn Gould, give these recordings a listen and the question will be answered."
