"I actually was present for some of this recording and tuned the piano for it (if I remember correctly). This album used a unique recording technique in that Ayke played *both* the piano and the violin. The piano parts were recorded first using a Yamaha Disklavier and then Ayke accompanied the piano live on violin. In addition, Ayke had a choice between a Stradivarius and a Guarnerius; and, she choice the latter because its tone was better suited to the pieces she was playing. And, in case you do not know, Ayke was Jascha Heifetz' accompanist for fifteen years -- up until his death -- so she is quite familiar with his music."
