CD Reviews

God knows Haruhi rocks!
Jason T | Atlanta, GA | 07/13/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album was released right after Episode 12 of 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu' aired that included the first two songs: "God knows..." and "Lost my music" which were sung by the lead character Haruhi Suzumiya.

Anyone who is a 'Haruhi' fan will tell you that "God knows..." made the series. Aya Hirano, the voice actress for Haruhi, belts out a rocking, from-the-heart ballad of a girl's love for her significant other. This performance is a far cry from Hirano's cheerful J-Pop nature. From the beginning, the beat is catchy, and worth head-nodding. The high-pitched guitar licks and drums reminisce the days of female rockers, both English and Japanese. Everyone who has seen the series will no doubt pick this as their favorite song from the anime.

"Lost my music" returns Hirano to her J-Pop syle of singing, but still the guitars and drums rock out a great beat. A great song to drive down the road with.

The last track is the opening to the movie the group did in the series, which is shown as Episode 1. Performed by Yuko Goto, she stays in character as the shy, frail Mikuru as she sings the silly anthem for the heroine. Another song for a long road trip... if you can handle the snickering and wincing you'll be doing. Still, a memorable part of the series.

As a bonus, the lyric sheet folds out to a poster of Haruhi during her on-stage performance.

For "God knows..." this CD is all worth it."
