Now this is what I call music!

"After discovering Aterciopelados thanks to a friend a few years ago, I have become a huge fan of theirs and "Evolucion" is a great set of songs spanning their career. The range of emotions on this CD is amazing, from severe melancholy to sheer giddiness and everything in between. I'd rate this group not just at the forefront of modern Latin music, but at the forefront of bands anywhere in the world these days. They create to the beat of their own drum, are incredibly unique, and somehow they make the music work to become extremely catchy and captivating to the listener. Not to mention Andrea's voice, which just sucks you into her soul. Aterciopelados may be heading into new musical horizons, but that's expected - for them to grow, they can't sit and create the same songs over and over again. I play "Tanto Amor" repeatedly - it's got an amazing hook.Definite recommendation to anyone looking to experience the best of the Latin alertnative rock scene."

""Evolucion", the latest release from Aterciopelados, is a compilation of their greatest hits and three new songs. The song selection is somewhat odd for a best-of package. Why "La Pipa De La Paz" and "La Culpable" are included is anyone's guess. While both are fine songs, they coud hardly be considered "hits". Notably absent are "Cosita Seria", "Mujer Gala", and "Sortilegio". One listen to the new material and it becomes clear that Aterciopelados has once again changed musical direction. They've created a fresh, new, modern sound while still retaining their characteristic charm. The first single, " Mi Vida Brilla" is a pretty, mid-tempo love song written for vocalist Andrea's newborn daughter. It's programmed percussion and synthesized strings bring to mind Madonna's "Music" Album. With it's electronic instrumentation, "Florecita Rockera 2003" bears no resemblance to the original version. Where it not for the exteneded slowed-down interlude, "Florecita" could become(dare I say it) a dance club hit. Overall, if this is a taste of what's to come. I can hardly wait for their upcoming full-length album. Welcome back Andrea and Hector!"
Fabulous, deep, smooth, gorgeous

"You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll sing along, you'll get goose-bumps, you'll get up and dance -- sometimes all in the space of a single song. Aterciopelados is one of the greatest bands in the world. Evolucion is a superb entrée into the velvety world of Andrea Echeverri, Hector Buitrago and their co-conspirators, a world that reveals more and more of its resonant beauty the deeper one explores. If you don't understand any Spanish at all, this band will give you a reason to start learning. I hope and pray that they NEVER record a single word of English."
