"I got this CD at a James Taylor concert..with Arnold singing back-up. Whenever he sang solo, I noticed he had his own "fan club" cheering from his side of the stage. They were right! I play this CD all the time, and it's grown to be one of my favorites. He melts my heart in "Hot and Sultry Afternoon" and "I Can't Make You Love Me". He's got a smooth, easy style with seemingly no limits to the power behind his voice. Can't wait to see him LIVE some day."

"It's very likely you have heard this man's voice. He has sung back-up for Phil Collins, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and Lyle Lovett; to name a few; has sung in movies (that's Arnold McCuller doing the jaw-dropping version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" in the movie "The Sum of All Fears" as well as Andre Braugher's singing voice in "Duets").

In "Back to Front," McCuller give us his interpretations of a few of the songs on which he has performed back-up, as well as tunes he has used in his live acts and one fantastic original, "Hot and Sultry Afternoon."

This a a singer who really knows how to sing, and it's not just because he can belt out that show-offy BIG NOTE most vocalists use to impress us all. His voice is magical: he can make it impress or caress, soothe or shout, laugh or languish. He knows how to hold back just enough and when to really let it go, inviting us to experience the emotion in the song: he's soulful without using endless vocal runs, he's jazzy without being lazy. He's perfect, without being robotic!

It's difficult to experience full Arnold Mac without hearing an entire song, because of the way he sometimes saves the best for the middle or last, so listen to those little samples with the knowledge that you're only getting a teeny taste of a satisfying cd. Pure pleasure from beginning to end.
