"Arnett Cobb, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Arthur Edgehill, Wild Bill Davis; these are not fashionable names in "Jazz Programs" at universities. Why? Because they just swing really hard-- they don't play modally, or use "matrix" changes or demonstrate technique worthy of a music-store instructional video.What they have is soul, soul soul. And they also have something few jazz artists have anymore-- fun. Listen to this and groove."
