FINALLY!
Mr. IT | The OC | 04/30/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For years Andrew Bray has been struggling to find his "voice". Not the one that he sings with, the one that he puts down on record. He's finally done it.

Andrew's challenge has been that he's a rocker with a deep baritone (no falsetto for this cat, thank you very much!) that finds itself more at home in Motown or Memphis than the Sunset Strip - pretty frustrating when you and your friends are all dining on a steady diet of Rock 'n; Roll and you want THAT to be your voice. Further, for those of us who know him, he has a very pleasant, easy-going personality that has struggled to come through his music. At times I've wondered if the term "Blue eyed soul" was really coined for Andy because no one else could find the words that really describe his vocal tibre and form of expression!

His first album, "Any Given Day" was a nice start - and the sales figures would certainly support that statement - but for those of us who know Andy and have played in his bands it just didn't seem to "fit" somehow. It felt like he was trying to squeeze into a store bought suit that was a size or two too small ("Yeah, it looks right and it's OK, but something just NOT right here! It doesn't "feel" right - almost like the color isn't quite right or something!)

This album, on the other hand, just feels right. Andrew's warm baritone and just under the surface passion come through nicely. In addition, unlike the original "Any Given Day" Andy is content to step out of the footlights and let other voices - the female vocalists in particular - and soloists soar.

The end result is an album where Andrew pulled up in an classic old Cadillac and picked up Mr. H.S. Spirit who brought along some old friends (Black Gospel, R&B, Motown, African, Soul) to not only crash Andy's party but make it ALOT better!

Come join the party, "Any Given III" is happening NOW at a CD player near you!"
