Anubian Lights - 'The Jackal&Nine EP' (Cleopatra)
Mike Reed | USA | 08/04/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is really an EP?Must be a double EP because it's running time is a total of 55 minutes. What you get here, basically are five tracks from the band's 'The Eternal Sky' disc that are redone, with one of those cuts, being "Soul Herder",that is TOTALLY different from the cut off '..Eternal...' OR Nik Turner's 'Past Or Future' CD.Sort of dug "Jackal&Nine(Biocosmic Energy Mix)",but I was caught off guard with the EP's two newly done tunes,"12-24-2011" and "The Ba&The Ka".Some stunning synth work.'The Jackal&Nine' has one impressive line up of musicians, like Nik,Del Dettmar,Simon House,Len Del Rio,Tommy Grenas,Doran Shelley and Paul Fox.So how could any fan of superb ambient space rock pass this title up?The theme is ancient Egypt. The mood is like,way-out thereville."
Egypto-Ambient Dance-Trance

"Soothing yet inspiring. I like writing/working to this music, but it's also really, really good for romantic interludes. It's an EP, too, but longer than many albums--a bargain all around. Fantastic electronica in every respect."
Very good trance

"This is a great album, with individual tracks ranging from pretty good to awe-inspiring. This is light, feel-good trance. It has that other-worldly trance depth, in places, but with very little darkness."
