CD Reviews

Wow! This is a great album!

"Well known as the "Mayimbe" of Amargue music, Antony Santos' second album, "La Batalla", may well be one of his bests CD of his career. Starting off with "El Perrito" and finishing off with "Ay Mujer", this CD catapults him to the top of the fame with songs which no doubt reflects what really is in his heart.....the love of music."
One of my all-time favorite tapes!

"I spent the summer of 1993 in the Dominican Republic, in a little village in Dajabon right on the Haitian border. This tape comprised at least 80% of the music I heard over those two months. Fortunately, it's such a great album that I didn't get even remotely sick of it! I still listen to it frequently seven years later, and I'm excited to be able to buy the CD, since the cassette I have is on the verge of falling apart!"
Super song on this cd

"i just entered the world of dominican music, having recently returned from my first trip to the island. the whole genre is very, very good, and i was amazed at the quality of the music even on the radio. my interests include 50's-60's jazz, some of the older brazilian jazz, jamaican reggae, some rock, etc.anthony santos is very, very good, perhaps the best. he plays the two popular types of music, bachatas and merengues. merengues is a faster beat. i guess he's known for his bachata, but i think he is the best merengue player. i like merengue led by the guitar.i think the first track "el baile el perrito", is a super song. it would be hard for a song from any genre of music to top it. the whole cd is very good, i'm sure, but a song like this is a pinnacle of the genre, in my opinion. it's hard to imagine music being better than this merengue song."
