Synopsis

Album Description
This Canadian singer-songwriter's brilliant voice has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams. "Wandering Eyes" is a sparkling country debut that highlights both Desveaux's voice and her poignant songwriting, inspired by Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams with an alt-country twist. Her band includes members of Wooden Stars, Arcade Fire, Strange Attractors, GYBE, and Hangedup. Engineered by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and produced by Brian Paulson (Slint, Superchunk, Wilco).

She's got all the hallmarks of a coming star!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Another talented Canadian. She looks up to Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams as her inspirations.

Well this first CD sounds a lot like Lucinda Williams - somewhere between "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" and "Essence". With that indefinable Canuck sound that I hear in Sarah McLaughlan, Jane Sibery - a little bit rounder and sweeter to me than I hear in most U.S. female vocalists.

Genre - somewhere in the Alt Country/folk/rock bracket. Some nice ballads and some good foot-tapping stuff. A good mix of sounds.

Good voice and interesting music. In some numbers I though the bass was a bit heavy, but otherwise this is sweet, lively, fun.

I play it often."
