CD Reviews

Yeah Baby...A Truly Swining Collection!

"I bought this CD while on vacation in London - which is completely appropriate as the collection is a throwback to Carnaby Street London of the 1960's. The arrangements are lush and swingy and by itself, In the Lounge with Andy Williams, could provide the soundtrack to either of the Austin Powers movies.Highlights include Music to Watch Girls By, Wives and Lovers, Can't Get Used to Leaving You. Mind you, these are my favorites as I listen to the CD right now - every song is a gem...Yeah Baby!END"
Smooth & Hip

"I am a 40 year old rock-and-roller who got to see Andy live in Branson Mo. last year. I was treated to a master professional with a voice so smooth and beautiful it almost brought tears to my eyes. I bought this CD at his theater in Branson and it has become one of my desert island 10. I love it. Even my teenage sons like it. The songs included are perfect to showcase his ability and range and never gets old. "Music To Watch Girls By" is so hip I almost can't stand it. If you think "Up Up And Away" is dated wait till you hear the version on this CD. It really swings. My favorite (this week) has to be "You Are My Sunshine" which starts off slow, changes tempo and builds up to a smokin' ending. If you like swingin' sixties tunes with some ballads sung by the best, you will really enjoy this."
Really creates a hip mood!

"Andy Williams' recording "Music To Watch Girls By" peaked in the 30s on the US charts in 1967. It was, however, revived in an ad campaign in the UK and subsequently became a top 10 hit there in 2003.

Its success led to this UK repackaging of predominantly late `60s recordings, which, like the hit single, have aged well and sound hipper now than they did then. Most of these recordings were remakes of some of that era's biggest radio hits like the Association's "Windy" and Jack Jones' "Wives And Lovers" (the second track, a remake of Franki Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" was even a minor hit for Andy) and all are given the lounge treatment that makes them sound positively groovy.

The collection concludes with a few of Andy's early `60s hits for Columbia, like "Can't Get Used To Losing You" and "Moon River." They're great of course, but don't mesh well with the rest of the lounge set. The first 20 or so tracks, however, would provide awesome background music for your next salute to the `60s party!"
