Synopsis

Album Description
A storytelling album from comedic troubadour Andy Offutt Irwin. Join Andy, Marguerite, and the girls for stories about the Southern White Old Lady Hospital, the gift of practical jokes, and growing up. With a manic Silly Putty voice, astonishing mouth noises, and hilarious stories, Andy is equal parts mischievous school boy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of the Southern balladeer.

CD Reviews

This album is a delight!

"Andy Offutt Irwin is a whimsical comedian who uses storytelling as his medium. His gentle humor makes this live album suitable for all ages and his descriptions paint vivid pictures in the mind. Irwin excels at conveying distinct characters through different voices, whether it's his great aunt Marguerite and her old lady friends or the drunk college guy at Octoberfest.

The album will strike a chord for everyone who has ever had a playful or kind or eccentric great aunt or grandmother or old lady neighbor in their lives.

Is this a Christmas album? Well, many of the stories have the trappings of the season-a boy's wonder at seeing Santa Claus, listening to children sing carols or viewing decorations-but the themes of the album are for every season; the connections between friends and family, hanging onto our heritage in a changing world and, most importantly, the art of the practical joke.

Sometimes Irwin goes a long way for a joke-like the punch line for the bit about `Children's Books'-but there is so much humor sprinkled along the way that the journey is worth it.

So how much of it is actually true? Does it matter? You will find yourself hoping that every detail of this delightful southern lady's life really did occurred.

"Kinda like Garrison Keillor--only doing his own sound effects. And instead of Lutherans and snow, it's Methodists and sweet tea.
