CD Reviews

My souls cried out loud!

"This album is extremely beautiful! It is now one of my favorites and is very touching to the heart and soul. Andrea's voice is very moving and powerful. It sounds like an angel singing from Heaven! I don't want this song to come out of my head, it's way too perfect to forget!"
This man does it because he loves it, NOT for the money
Someone who'd rather much see Andre | New York, NY USA | 12/30/2000

"Hell hath no fury like a woman who has a favorite singer then feels that she must give him up. Shaun Greenleaf's wicked review on that blind Pavolian Public s**t really jammed a nail into my head. Sorry, I know everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but whenever someone gives remarks on Bocelli like you did, I go a little crazy. I mean, a LOT crazy. I don't want to diss the Three Tenors either because I heard them before and liked them, but Bocelli was completely different from them all. Even Pavarotti said so himself: Andrea is finer than even him. So, Mr. Greenleaf, don't show your wrath against Bocelli and insist that we give him up for Carreras, Caruso, Domingo, or any other tenor who's "made a record" if we can't let Bocelli go. If we want to continue to admire him for what he is, we will. In THIS world of so-called "superstars" such as Madonna (at least she's trying to stop being the silly indecent woman she'd always been), 'N Sync, Jennifer López, Ricky Martin, the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, in other words, people who show their bodies and girate just to be the big thing (but to be nice to them did something for the public to enjoy) and who don't have the vocal talent that the likes of Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Céline Dion, and even--no big surprise--Sarah Brightman do, a man like our very own Andrea Bocelli who doesn't expose himself to the MTV radioplay media hype gets treated like s**t? I have to speak up for my Bocelli because of that. I do agree that he's not up to opera standards, I prefer his pop side more than his opera side, but I can't say he's horrible. An Enhanced CD by him would be nice, but then again, who needs an ECD and all sorts of t-shirts and souvenirs to become famous? The Backstreet Boys have been around only five years going on six, and they've plastered themselves on too many things to mention. Hope they come of age someday (like Madonna is) and learn that one doesn't need a whole bunch of things to get to where they want to be. Look at Lauryn Hill. It took her nothing more than superb songwriting and singing talent and positive messages to become successful. And her Miseducation CD didn't even NEED enhanced features. The same I'd like to say for Bocelli. It's his voice that got him to the level of superstar and little else. My belief is that Andrea, who loves opera, is doing it just because that is his love. When he sings "Vivo per lei" and that music is the one whom he never betrayed, he is absolutely right. He's not doing it for the money (I hope not). Not to say that those teen stunts like BSB and 'N Sync are hell-bound, to be fair to them. I'm just letting you know this."
The Power of Bocelli!!

"The two most wonderful things for me about this album are 1) the earlier renditions of songs I first heard on ROMANZA, which as a devoted fan are fascinating and historical, and 2) hearing that sweet and powerful voice in English singing The Power of Love...I adore the Italian language and agree that AB has his best sensibilities in his native tongue....but....WOW!!! This one knocked my socks off!!!"
