CD Reviews

Anahi continues to amaze and enchant

"Now I bought this CD completely in "good faith," that is, not being able to sample it and buying it solely based on its cover art and presumable content. Being a huge RBD fan, there weren't very many reasons I could consider in overlooking this album, besides the tendancy for members of groups to, when stepping out for a moment to record a solo album, completely change the genre of music that they sing. With this album, ingeniously, ingeniously, ingeniously, Anahi stays with the same type of super-addictive, ingeniously written (Yes, I used the word again) melodies, and as the album continued to unfold into my stunned ears, with track after track after track of strong, attentively written songs, I literally picked up the album case and had to do a double-take of it, desiring to ascertain indelibly what the cover of such an indescribably well-written, perfect music album looks like. So, one day when someone mentions the common phrase "the greatest album ever made," (Usually alluding to some Beatles album) THIS album will be what comes to my mind, even if it doesn't stay that way (gets pushed slightly aside by something else in the future).

The producers kept Anahi within pop, rather than experiment and have tejano, ranchera, merengue, salsa, or even rock songs written for her. Not to insult fans of the aforementioned genres, but look! If it's not broken, don't fix it. She has a myriad of fans from her part in RBD, and this album simply, merely (but ingeniously) extends upon that tried and true formula. This is her, for certain. It fits! Agh...

How many people sigh with surprise when they hear music that is just, just exactly what they are looking for? LOL I think I get way too deep into music and listening! Loooove this album. I feel like it was written specifically for ME! I've sometimes aspired to be a songwriter. With this album I have no need to! These are exactly what I would picture as the perfect songs! I usually somewhat struggle with conveying what's in my heart/mind, when it comes to drawing a picture, but also with music, but IF I were to somehow convey it perfectly, this is the translation, this album, note for note! It just parallels what me, this pop fan, would love completely! I don't understand Spanish, and have no idea what these songs are about, but man I can't say enough great things about how these songs perform and unfold... I mean, as I mentioned, track after track after track is just STUNNING! I would hear one track, be floored by how much I love it, think to myself "This is my favorite!" but then start completely from the beginning of this cycle with the very next track! I went through this process for the 10 songs of this CD!

"I am a HUGE RBD fan. I have contended for some time that the strength of RBD lies in the enchanting voice of Dulce Marie. I bought this solo effort by Anahi to see if perhaps I was wrong. This CD is enjoyable on it's own but it comes across like an unplugged version of the RBD music genre on the whole. I am not by any means musically inclined, but I do know what gives me goose bumps. This collection of songs is good but not goose bump worthy. So many of RBD's songs are so incredibly well sung and arranged. They are destined to be favorites on any radio station. "Hay Un Algo" from "Nuestro Amor" just blow me away as well as "Nuestro Amor" and "Este Corazon". From "Rebelde", "Ensename" is incredible. I expected as much from Anahi, but this CD leaves me thinking she is capable of so much more. Perhaps better song selection, maybe a little more upbeat tempo, I'm not sure. Five times through this CD and really the songs blend together one after another, NOTHING standing out either by the lyrics or the melody. I did notice that I haven't skipped any tracks because none of the songs are irritating to listen to. I would recommend this CD something to add to your collection of RBD music but if you only wanted to buy one, I would suggest "Nuestro amor" by RBD. In the end I still believe it is the beautiful voice of Dulce {sweet} that has launched RBD to superstardom."
