Just a little girl makes a great album

"False Smiles, the debut album of 17 year old Amy Studt, is quite an eclectic piece of music. Sweet ballads, happy pop and frustrated rock, Amy can do it all. It kicks off with her first single, Just a Little Girl. A songs that seems sweet and poppy, but develops an in-your-face rocky attitude in the chorus. Other songs, like Under the Thumb, follow the same formula. Her second single Misfit is a nice pop tune.

The quality of Amy's lyrics is open for debate. She writes with a painful honesty that leaves little room for interpretation, but is refreshing at the same time. Ladder in My Tights is a nice example of this, with lyrics like Why'd you wanna pick on me and not the rest / Does it make you feel big, does it make you feel clever?. Granted, it's not the best piece of peotic songwriting ever, but you can tell it comes right from the heart. Other songs include Carry Me Away, that makes you think of enchanted forests and faeriedust, Happy Now, that wouldn't look bad in a Broadway musical, and the somewhat political Superior Mind."

"I first heard of Amy Study two years ago. I was at a concert that was playing music videos before the concert started. They played two of Amy's videos in a row("Just a Little Girl" and "Misfit"). I instantly was a fan and wanted to get her cd as soon as possible. I looked her up on amazon and it said her cd was an import. I looked for her cd at every local store that sold cds. Then about a year ago I took a vacation to San Diego and found her cd at Tower Records. It was kinda expensive since it was an import but I wanted it so bad that I spent more than I usually would on a cd. False Smiles is a perfect combination of pop and rock music. Amy has a wonderful voice. Her lyrics are emotional and heartfelt. My favorite songs on the cd are "Just a Little Girl", "Happy Now", and "Seconds Away". Brit pop is awesome."

"O.K, so this is what I call talent. This girl has an absolutely amazing vocal and writing talent. My personal favourite track on the cd is 'Ladder in my Tights' and probably 'Misfit'.What a shame there's a lot of people who never heard of her. Amy Studt's awesome!"
