"This is the last Mainstream album by The Amboy Dukes, released in 1969. By this point Rusty Day was now the lead vocalist, and wasn't a bad one at that. Nugent finally pushes himself out front for an instrumental (the title track), and on the next Dukes album he'd take it further and dominate nine minutes of space. Of course, Migration actually comes off quite well, the title track isn't too Nuge-ed up, and the others seem to creep in and out. The tracks hold up fairly well, and don't sound, say a lot older than they really are. The hindrance from this being a five-star CD is that the single edit of "Prodigal Man" was used for this reissue. "I'm not a Juvenile Delinquent" was tweaked to remove much of the pop and crackle that was put there purposely. Also, the bonus tracks were audition recordings dating back before the first album, only Nugent and Farmer remained from that lineup to this one. In other words, they are very out of place. It's a good album, but this lineup would last only for this album. It's a shame, because they shone so brightly and stood out from the other lineups. Maybe event the whole rock crowd."

"Tis' a pity Steve Farmer left the Amboy Dukes and this album is perhaps a testament to his songwriting genuis! Ted went on to write largely tasteless music...But what is this about a new release by Steve Farmer titled "Journey To The DarkSide Of The Mind" ! It's about time and long overdue !"

"Originally released in 1969, this was the Detriot hard rock band's third effort. Can't believe I've never gotten around to checking out any of their work prior to this, at least not an entire album. Tunes here I found myself appreciating the most were the opening title track "Migration", "Inside Outside", "Loaded For Bear" and the two really great added bonus cuts, the inspiring "J.B. Special" (would be fun to cruise to) and "Sobbin' In My Mug Of Beer". Line-up: Ted Nugent-guitar&vocals, Rusty Day (of Cactus, R.I.P.)-percussion&vocals, Greg Arama-bass&vocals, Steve Farmer-rhythm guitar&vocals and Dave Palmer-drums. Should draw in long-time fans of Blue Cheer, Count Five, Iron Butterfly, Deviants, MC 5 and possibly the Easybeats. I have to wonder, do these guys ever reunite in any form?"
