Synopsis

Album Description
"Amanda Ford ? anything but ordinary." -PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE "A remarkable, creative composer and musician." -WQED "[Full of] energy and feeling." -TRIBUNE REVIEW "The passion in the voice and music is recognizable to anyone who has ever allowed themselves to fall deeply in love and give their trust. Amanda Ford is a major talent with much to offer ? her songs are haunting and stunningly tender ? Amanda will be a new star in the universe and she is yours to enjoy." -WILLIAM LAWRENCE, ARTIST RELATIONS, EPIC RECORDS Multiple Golden Quill and Emmy Award-winning singer/songwriter/pianist Amanda Ford is a leading composer of the true American pop song. Her debut solo album, On Fire, represents a unique blend of traditional American influences, combining blues, rock, jazz, country, and pop. Ford?s songs reveal a deceptive simplicity, underscored by legitimate musicianship. She has the exceptional ability to write and perform within multiple genres, all connected by her smooth and melodic stylistic thread. Her lyrics expose an uncommon depth without pretense and an intimate honesty; the listener can?t help but relate to the stories she tells. Ford possesses a haunting, lyrical voice reminiscent of the best of Joni Mitchell, Nora Jones, Sara MacLachlan, Annie Lennox, and Diana Krall. Winner of the Harry G. Archer Award for Composition. Marvin Hamlisch has premiered Ford?s works.

CD Reviews

A Masterpiece
Mooks | 06/24/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I consider this CD a pop masterpiece. The composition and lyrics are excellent and they are very visual as well as visceral in nature. The arrangements are first-class and the musicianship is impeccable. Everything about this CD approaches perfection, even the order in which the songs are presented. There is a minimum of four or five legitimate nationwide Top-40 hits included on this CD. In a music world filled with pre-formulated Top 40/Adult Contemporary and watered-down Pseudo-Country music, this CD rises far above the mediocre sludge that permeates the vast wasteland of popular music. Highly recommended."
The Real Deal
Rebecca H. | Greenville, SC | 09/02/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Amanda Ford is the real deal: singer, composer, pianist, songwriter, arranger. This CD is what happens when a gifted composer of many genres releases her personal songs. Her vocals are subtle and fiery at the same time. Her arrangements have many variations of color, timbre. Notice the variety in the instrumentation and the ease of moving between styles of music. This is not your average pop song recording."
