Album Description"Coconut Culture" is the newest CD from Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Allan Thomas. The artist says the music on this record might be best described as R&B or "Rhythm and Beach"! Created from mixing contemporary songwriting, with altered tunings, and the sounds and rhythms of Hawaii. Produced, Recorded, and Mixed by Mike Shipley, who lists Joni Mitchell, Shania Twain, Don Henley, and Sting, among others, as some of the artists he's worked with. Featuring performances by Graham Nash of Crosby Stills and Nash, on backing vocals, on "The Navigator", (a song about the life of David Crosby, who along with Graham Nash, gave Allan some of the alternate tunings that he uses on this song and others.) Also featuring Ken Emerson on Lead Fender, National Steel, and Hawaiian Lap Steel Slide guitars. Ken has played with Todd Rundgren, Jackson Browne, and Moe Keale, among others, and is considered one of Hawaii's top Slide/Slack Key and Hawaiian Lap Steel players. "Coconut Culture" also features the keyboard wizardry and co-writing of Michael Ruff, who has written for Bonnie Riatt, Kenny Loggins and Natalie Cole, among others, and who has played with Rickie Lee Jones, David Sanborn, and Todd Rundgren, to name a few. Bryan Kessler, producer and songwriter for the popular Hawaiian Style Band, also lends a hand with some acoustic guitar playing and a co-write.
