Jeffrey Haag | Scottsdale, az United States | 11/22/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Alex was the best of the Taylors and this is a great album, but I think that Capricorn should re-release his "with friends and neighbors" album...his rendition of "Southbound" is one of the best recordings I've ever heard."
Gritty Blues
Jeffrey Haag | 06/01/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Alex Taylor sounds nothing like his famous fraternal siblings, and in the early 1970's that may have hurt his chances. However, do not let that fact keep you from purchasing this excellent, heartfelt piece of music. Alex displayed a passion in his voice that is rarely heard anywhere. He was a stellar interpreter of lyrics and he knew how to rock out. Crank it up and move through the emotions with Alex- it is a shame he was lost too soon."
Alex's Acclaimed Cult Classic Returns
Jeffrey Haag | 01/20/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Critics curious in the '70s if Alex had a good album in him were surprised to discover he had a great one instead. Presented with passionate grace and blistering intensity, this beautifully played record became a sure party-starter and a cult favorite in Midwestern and Southern blues-rock circles. Make room between Charlie Musslewhite and Paul Butterfield for this unexpected barn-burner, because it belongs there and you'll probably play it most often. And bravo to Capricorn for the classy reissue."
