Quite possibly my favorite doom metal album

"Take everything that was great about their first album and add more guitar leads and more atmospheric and *gasp* psychedelic parts and you've got the new Ahab album summed up pretty well. This band really grew by leaps and bounds since their first CD, which was pretty much flawless itself. The production is great and the new bassist really stands out. "O Father Sea" has the most killer riff of all time in and "Redemption Lost" has some of the most beautiful and haunting vocals of all time and it kicks off with a really great long guitar solo. Those are also (in my humble opinion) the two best tracks on the album... But they're all great songs!

It's mega-heavy and it's the best album of 2009. Get it!"

"Doom metal can be love/hate. I think it takes a specific mindset to listen to a much slower pace of metal. The problem with doom is, is that all too often songs drone on and become repetitive and boring. The thing I love about Ahab is that this is never the case. Their debut was awesome and TDOO is equally awesome. I think fans of Evoken or Esoteric will like this album."
