Synopsis

Album Description
When Aftertaste was first formed in the summer of '96, they never anticipated their high-energy brand of happy punk rock music would ever leave their living room, much less come this far. After all, they were just three bored buddies looking for a fun way to kill time. But now, after two hilariously awful tapes ("Aftertaste" & "Revenge of the Nerds"), three lucky compilations ("Jet Set 1 & 2" & "Nuwanda's Trip"), and an underachieving little E.P. called "Circus Monkeys," it has come to this: "The Threat of Gravity." Encompassing 16 of their very best, The Threat of Gravity has been described as a culmination of energetic pop-edged punk, and includes a varied blend of song styles, each one distinctly Aftertaste, yet original in it's presentation. From their energetic songs "Geek Out" and "Better You" to the more embellishing climatic tunes of "Precious," their staple encore song at live shows, each song has a flare for exhibiting the camaraderie Aftertaste shares as a band. Ideally, they hope after many years (and, wishfully, many more records), that they can reflect back and say that these are sixteen of the worst songs they have ever written. But, for now, they are content to let them encapsulate where they have been, hint at where they are heading, and stand for what they are: sixteen of their very best - a makeshift anthology further proving that the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. They would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who has supported them over the last five years, from the hard-core Tastebuds to the well-wishing bystanders; you have made it all ridiculously fun and worthwhile. A famous frog once said, "Life is like a movie, write your own ending..." Well, as long as you keep listening, we'll keep making it up as we go along, for they are very glad and truly grateful that you enjoy their raucous brand of music.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Just writin' to let you know you won't be sorry with this CD and if you ever get to the Northwest and get a chance to see these guys play you MUST make it to the show. Three guys with enough sound to fill any venue and make it sound like 10. Enjoy the music and tell your friends!!!"
