CD Reviews

Great record, glad they have a new singer

"Ive never seen a disgruntled old band member write a bad review of the band haha thats hilarious. Anyways, I got this CD not even knowing it had a different singer or anything. I saw the band on the Warped Tour a couple times and the old singer was absolutly horrible live, he had the worst stage presence of any band ever. Couldnt get past this it was just painful to watch him. He was good on the recording but I think took more away than he gave.

New CD is absolutly amazing. The first song is a little different with guitar but then on track 2 you get blasted with one of the best songs on the record. Track 5 is my second favorite which I think is the first single. I look forward to seeing the band live without the old singer so I can get a new opinion about the live act. As far as the music on the record, its awesome and if you like electronic music youll love it to. New singer is great, actually hes awesome. I dont feel like it takes away from the band at all."
Worth a listen

"If you've heard the A Short Dream EP and are an Aeffect fan then you will most likely enjoy this full length. Long gone however is former singer Aaron, who has been replaced by the former background singer and keyboardist whose name escapes me. Anyways, Aaron's voice added a distinct and different sound to the electronic pop-wave sound of the EP and kept the Aeffect from sounding like the Faint. The only remnants of Aaron's involvement in the band are a few songs that he wrote and originally sang on such as "Multiplies" and "Burning on the Bed of Fire", both of which were released as demo's a while back with Aaron's voice. I really liked the demos but I never thought they were anything too special. However now after hearing Secrets and Lies I can see how much more tight and revised those songs are. The only downfall is that the new singer sounds like the guy from the Faint. I would have loved to hear Aaron singing. But the songs that the new singer actually wrote for himself to sing sound pretty good. And the Aeffect have been getting coverage from MTV2 and have already rented some of their songs to be used on MTV programs like Real World, Road Rules etc. So if you want some new wave sounding music that is more loyal to the original sound then bands like the Faint and Hot Hot Heat who mix it with indie rock then take a listen. As for buying, listen first, then decide if it's worth it to you."
