Synopsis

Album Description
"Invincible" isn't just the first single from edgy Las Vegas rock quintet Adelitas Way's self-titled Virgin/EMI Music debut album, it's also an apt description for singer Rick DeJesus' determination to succeed and overcome his background on the mean streets of a Philadelphia neighborhood ravaged by drugs and poverty. A shredding, bluesy rocker, in which DeJesus explains he went for "that Incredible Hulk feeling," he calls it "a song that pumps you up, a crowd-pleaser. It's about our attitude: I'm not going to let anyone stand in the way of my dreams." Adelitas Way--which also includes lead guitarist Chris Iorio, guitarist Keith Wallen, drummer Trevor Stafford and bassist Derek Johntson--are about to see those wishes come true. Produced by the Grammy-nominated Johnny K (Disturbed, Plain White T's, 3 Doors Down), the disc offers a variety of empowering and sexy rockers, spotlighting the shredding blues style of teenage axe-slinger Iorio and the propulsive, grunge-like drums of Huntington Beach, CA native Stafford, a veteran of Ozzfest band Shuvel. N.Y. bassist Johnston and West Virginia guitarist Wallen complete the line-up, bringing a combination of indie, hardcore and classic rock influences to the band's distinctive sound. The hard-working group, whose name comes from an unlikely stay in a Tijuana brothel, has already opened for artists like Chris Cornell, Hinder and Tantric, generating an impressive industry buzz that resulted in their signing with Virgin. Describing his songwriting, Rick explains "I'm very emotional, I put myself in people's shoes and live vicariously. My songs are about true situations."

Must Have Music!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Adelitas Way, accomplishes what all great rock albums do. It has something for everyone, it's cool, it's hot, it's loud, it whispers, it rocks, it's emotional, it grips your soul and it is a hellava great record. This new band out of Las Vegas writes songs with great melodies, superior musicianship, unforgettable riffs, hard rockin guitar sections, heart tugging lyrics and energizing vocals. Destined to be 2009's most favorite album , I see why WWE have already picked up two of their songs.

I first caught the band, Adelitas Way, at a local concert opening for 10 Years. From the first song there was no mistaking that his band was chock full of supremely talented musicians. Watching this band live is an incredible experience not to be missed, and now fans are treated with their long awaited debut album. And what an album it is. Do not let this one pass you by, Adelitas Way has something very very special that you won't wanna miss.

The album opens with three strong selections in a row. The heart pounding power anthem and WWE theme song "Invincible", followed by one of the heaviest tracks on the album "Scream" and "Dirty Little Thing" destined to be the most memorable track and one everyone will love. The height of the album comes at track 6 and 7. My favorite "So What If You Go" effortlessly transitions into the soul ripping track "Closer to You". The album changes into the crunchy, funky guitar track "Just A Little Bit" and closes with the very sad "Brother". Missing from the album is "Inside", and by my estimation probably one of their best-but no fear, you get it for joining their mailing list.

Highlights:

"So What If You Go" - Guitar, Guitar, Guitar, you can't mistake what guitarists Chris and Keith bring to this album, and this song displays some of their work. This is probably my favorite song on the album. The opening transition and screaming riff tears me apart every time. At 2:49 Chris launches into a beautifully integrated solo that rings with fervor and passion rarely seen in a young band.

"Closer to You" - The anthemy opening fits perfectly at this point on the album. This song has what all great songs possess, it's happy and sad all at the same time and gets deep inside your heart and stays there.

"Just A Little Bit" - has a funky vibey opening riff that makes this one of my favorite tracks and is just plain fun. It's the ultimate party track and displays some of the albums best guitar work.

"I just bought this today and have listened to it at least five times straight through already. It's one of the very few albums that I don't feel the need to skip songs on. Every single song has a unique rocking vibe and it has a fresh sound that clearly distinguishes it from the rest of the songs.

One of the most poignant and emotional songs to me is Brother. The words are very gripping and you can really hear the emotion in Rick's vocals. Not to mention an amazing guitar solo by Chris.

This is the epitome of what a real rock record should sound like. Balls to the wall, never let you go, in your face, rocking album. Everyone should definitely check them out!"
Bright Future ahead

"ADELITAS WAY,has a bright future ahead of them no doubt. There debut album is full of great songs with sing-along choruses.Standout tracks among these are Lead single Invincible,Scream and Last stand. However,There are also quite a few borrowed elements on there debut that one can't help but notice. Since i am reviewing this lets point them out.Dirty little thing has Nickelback's save me all over the bridge. Anyone that doesn't hear Daughtry's It's not over being copied with Last stand should take a second listen. My Derailment's chorus is basically the chorus to Taking Back Sunday's MAKEDAMNSURE. One can even hear Pokerface in the opening riff of Hate love. For me taking all that into consideration I could not bring myself to give this anymore then 3 stars for this review. This band however has plenty of potential and hopefully will be around to make another album and put more of there own stamp on it. They suceeded in doing that with songs like Invincible and Scream."
