Bands that really should be remembered more often.

"I accidentally came across this CD when browsing through the 'Sale' section of a music store. I remember the first time I ever heard 'Addict' - 'Monster Side' on the Disturbing Behaviour soundtrack and I was obsessed with it for a long time. Now I listen to the album and regret that the band didn't continue making records. Really too bad. Reminiscent of Silverchair, Bush and even Placebo (I make strange connections), this band still has a very unique style that I have yet to hear repeated by anyone else. Aston's voice is very distinct and just... makes you want to keep listening. Energetic melodies with a subtle dark undertone is what made me love this band. If you're looking for that 'great indie band I haven't yet heard', definitely get it."
Fantastic debut from a talented band.

"Addict's debut album sounds wise beyond its years. It's the sort of album where almost any track could have been lifted for release as a single. Mark Aston's voice is amazing, and the strength of his lyrics is astounding. Nikolai Juel's skills on guitar mean he can make the most tender or jagged sounds with ease, which add great depth to each track. "Nobody Knows", "All Change" and "Caned" rock like there's no tomorrow, whilst "Red Bird" and "Teenage Angel" show a more emotional side. Even this superb album cannot describe the superb live experience of Addict though, as twice as much heart and soul is apparent when they play the live set. Oh, and they dedicated "Monster Side" to me at one gig as I was wearing one of their T-shirts right in front of Mark! The best is definitely yet to come.... I'm already Addict-ed!"
Great debut !

"I first read about Addict in the French music magazine "Rocksound" and there was also a CD with one of the tunes of "Stones". When I listened to the whole album I was sure that I had heard a great new band. I really like Mark Aston's voice, the heavy guitars and the melodic - hard rock. And there's one I can tell you : They're also great live on stage !! Go on like this, I'm waiting for the second album!"
New style, still growing, keep watching - good CD!!!!!

"Interesting in that you can't tell the song from the intro. Listen to all of it - Nobody Knows, All Change & Caned rock hard while Teenage Angel and Stones tend to ballad. Great lyrics, good syncopasion and vocals. Only 4 stars because their best is yet to come. Get this soon."
Great debut album that augers well for the future.

"The blurb that comes with the CD mentions Led Zepplin and U2 as influences on Addict's sound. This may well be but by my reackoning they borrow heavily from Radiohead and the perrenial favourites, Pearl Jam. "Stones" is a modern rock album that has no pretensions at being more than it is. I've not come across Addict before and to be honest the album sounds like a first offering - it's raw in places and I don't think that the lead singer has yet developed his full vocal range. The first track, "Dust" leaves you in no doubt as to what to expect from the album and has an angst-filled refrain that has you joining in by the second repetition. The Radiohead influence comes through in particular on the second track, "Monster Side", which sounds like "Creep" revisited. Track 6, "Teenage Angel" is a rock ballade of mistakes, lost opportunities and lost love and is one of my highlights on the album.I bought "Stones" on the strength of one song which I saw on late-night TV and it turned out to be one of those albums that surprise you by the number of tracks that you enjoy. The only other album that I've enjoyed to the same extent on a "blind" purchase was the offering from Third Eye Blind, which is very similar in execution (although I think Addict is a bit "heavier").Definately worth dropping hints for to get as a Christmas present!"
