Synopsis

Product Description
Stones to Sand is Achilles Wheel's second release, and first true studio recording. Having performed most of the material over the course of the past year and a half at many of their live events, the songs had matured and were refined to the point that they deserved the full treatment. Drums (both full kits) were multi track recorded in a live setting at the studio of Tom Menig in Chicago Park CA. (Silver Maple Studios) Then the crafting of the songs began at the home studios of bassist Shelby Snow and singer/songwriter/guitarist Paul Kamm. The mixing was done at Silver Maple Studios, again by Tom Menig. Finally, mastering was done by Oz Fritz at Ancient Wave Studios in Nevada city CA. The idea was to capture the raw energy and spark of an Achilles Wheel live show, while also highlighting the stellar songwriting, singing, and arrangements. Success was awarded on both fronts. Stones to Sand is a 14 song collection of creations that reflect the years of experiences and influences of the entire group. Each member contributed their energies, creativity and interpretations, resulting in an engaging, thought provoking, highly listenable recording. There's something for everyone on this disc. From the opening rocker, The Truth is What You Know, to the sweet closing acoustic song, Hallelujah One More Time, and everything in between. There's Zydeco, African and Latin rhythms for dancing, and pure Rock and Roll to blow your hair back. It all adds up to a sort of genre defying, but mind blowing, album for the ages.
