Synopsis

Product Description
The self-produced debut album from Seattle-based piano-vocalist Aaron English. His style is rock, but progressive and cosmopolitan: 'world-beat' in the vein of Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, and Sting. The scope of the album is epic, the five-piece band often augmented by full string orchestrations, Middle Eastern or West African drum ensembles, a mariachi band, hurdy-gurdy through a wah-wah pedal or didjeridu layered with programmed beats.

CD Reviews

I should know!
Derek Munson | Tri-Cities (Richland), WA USA | 03/17/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you found yourself here, thank your lucky stars - you're in for a treat. My name is Derek, and I am Aaron's tour drummer. I hadn't heard of Aaron or his music until he contacted me as a sideman. Once I got my ear turned on it, though, I HAD to play for him! This music defies explanation or commentary, really. I could tell you how gorgeous, full, and orchestrated the arrangements are, or how diverse the cultural span is, but that is only a small segment of the awesomeness of this work. One reviewer said something to the effect of "Play this music with the windows thrown open during a storm, and you're likely to summon Gods." I can't begin to tell you how accurate that is! It'll give you goosebumps one minute, then gently rock you to sleep the next. Again, it's priceless.Take a listen and see for yourself - you won't be disappointed. And by all means, buy this CD, even if the sound clips don't seem to tickle you initially; you will come to appreciate it with a more careful listen to every note of the full album. Thanks for reading!Derek Munson"
