Amazon.com The ever-popular vocal quartet 4Him has revisited their musical heritage with Hymns: A Place of Worship. This CD is an exceptional redefinition of some time-tested worship classics. Including 10 complete hymns and 4 interludes, these arrangements combine the rich hymn-song tradition with a contemporary music design. The members of 4Him found inspiration for this project by studying the composers and situations that gave birth to each of these hymns. This research brought them a new understanding of their spiritual roots, and as a result they were able to embrace the songs as their own. With a rock ballad version of "Oh Sacred Head, Now Wounded," a Beatle-esque rendition of "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us," and a Middle Eastern-influenced "The Love of God," this is not another run-of-the-mill hymn CD in an already saturated market. Member CD Reviews Pat T. from GREENSBURG, PA Reviewed on 4/18/2009... This is the first 4 Him I ever heard and I loved it. It is well done respectful but yet very up beat. Lots of CCM is to much bang bang but this group is modern with out any over kill. Will get more of them

Henry | Seattle, WA | 07/31/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "4HIM delivers a wonderful gift to both the Christian music traditionalists and fans of contemporary Christian music. Few if any artists have attempted to bridge this gap, but their interpretations of the classic hymns of the church will please the ears of all. While respecting and honoring the melodies and words of the sacred songs the Christian church, they have added their own 4HIM "touch" to them that makes their interpretations both contemporary and uniquely 4HIM. Andy, Mark, Kirk and Marty seamlessly take turns with melody and harmony without detracting from the lyrics. An additional treat is the new melody for "It Is Well With My Soul" which doesn't take away the depth of emotion underlying this hymn, and dare I say it may even add to it. It's well and good to keep expanding the world of CCM but it's also good to look at the foundation of Christian music. Thankfully, this is what 4HIM has decided to do this time around. This is a CD you can feel comfortable recommending to your parents or grandparents while at the same time passing it on to a young person who may or may not be familiar with these hymns. There is nothing more to say except to say, "well done" to the guys of 4HIM." A truly beautiful CD..... J.
