CD Reviews

Decent Throwback
Worgelm | United States | 01/10/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"(3-1/2 stars) Apparently there was some interest in Europe for the earlier 24-7 Spyz LPs, so they more or less went back in time, cast off vocalist Jeff Broadnax and brought back P.Fluid to throw this one together. Its often funny ("Shady girrrrrl....come out and playyy!") but sounds very much inferior, in both production and songwriting strength, after their incredible major-label debut _Strength In Numbers_ (unfortunately out of print). Still there's some excellent interplay on "Why" and "Stoner", and a decent funky instrumental "Agroovendeel" that are worth hearing, if you can sift through cruft like "Choose Me" (either version). If you liked the more early-Fishbone-like sound on _Gumbo Millenium_ and _This Is...24-7 Spyz_, rather than the more metallic sound on their later LPs, this will be right up your alley."

"This is the best 24-7 Spyz CD that features the original
P-Fluid, Anthony, Rick and Jimi line up...
All the songs are real crunchy, except for "choose me", but
even that one has a great middle eight. Well, the re-mix
version does anyway (track 11). There are equally as good 24-7 CDs, but
this one is the very best by the original 24-7 Spyz.
If you want to turn a friend on to 24-7 Spyz, this is the CD to
use as a 'starter'. A must for the heavy metal soul."
A classic amongst few

"This totally briliant album offers heavy guitar, maximum groove, great melody and lots of humour. Honestly, what more do you need???!!!"
