S-SSD 0058 SOUTHPORT RECORDS presents the world release of Malachi Favors Maghostut & Tatsu Aoki's new bass duet CD "2 X 4." Spanning generations of sound form and time, this unique CD projects a subtle beauty. The sound of two master players of the acoustic bass builds a hypnotic spell that sheds light on many forms of jazz and new music expression. Favors, the internationally known bassist for The Art Ensemble Of Chicago and countless other ensembles, is known the world over for the sheer power of his tone and expression. Aoki, one of the most recorded acoustic bassists in the history of new music recording brings a rich energy to this collection of nine compositions. As we move into the next century, "2 X 4" in many ways projects the music of the future. A music that is not restrained by form or corporate systems. A music that has tradition but also an energy that pulls it into the atmosphere of sound, time and emotion. A music that will challenge the audience. This CD represents a continuation in the Southport mission, to produce, record and distribute new music to a world market.
