CD Reviews

Shhhhh....Don't Tell Anyone That I Own This... {1 Star}

"Okay, before I start my review, if you want a good laugh, skip straight to #3 (High On Your Love) on this album. It's probably the most unintentionally funny song you'll ever hear. I was on my couch screaming with laughter.

Anyway, yes, I shamefully admit to owning this album. I'll tell you my reason, no matter how lame, for buying this album. First of all, remember that MP3s and downloading didn't exist in '90. If the album wasn't a popular album, your bootleg man probably wasn't gonna have it. I went through the trouble of getting this because I was expecting to hear some MC Hammer disses. As I listen to this, I'm not hearing any. I do remember there being a subtle diss in his video for "King Of The Hype" -- an MC Hammer imitator was doing the famed typewriter dance (that shuffling dance that MC Hammer made famous in his You Can't Touch This video) and 2 Bigg comes on stage, snuffs him, and then prooceeds to throw him off the stage. So, naturally, I was expecting some sparks to fly. Sadly, if there are any disses, you probably won't care by the time you reach the end because the CD is so bad. This album is hard to sit through when not used for comedic purposes. I mean, seriously, this album is one of the biggest jokes in hip hop history. And that's no exaggeration, people.

As far as positive aspects, all I can say is it's a short listen. That's about all the good that I can think to mention. Otherwise, it's all downhill.

Here's the bottom line, 2 Bigg can't rhyme a lick. Dude is a bigger joke than Chunky A (look him up, young bucks). The production is lame...even by 1990 standards. And the album sounds like an MC Hammer album. Like 2 Bigg stole his beats and tried to pass them off as his own or something. I'm not sure why he parted ways with MC Hammer, but that was probably the worst career move he could've ever made. Some people just have no business recording albums. 2 Bigg is one of those people. I recommend staying as far you can away from this accident of an album.

Now that I think about it, I think I saw 2 Bigg wrapping gifts at Macy's.

Standout Tracks: Don't kid yourself. The entire album is a smoldering train wreck.
