(4 out of 5 stars)
"I was introduced to the now-defunct 1.6 Band by a friend who liked a lot of the bands on Gern Blandsden, the record label responsible for this posthumous collection. A pity they broke up so soon, and a shame I never got to see them live. This disc chock full of songs represents their recorded history. The music itself, if you need a label to slap on it, is post-punk. But as with all labels, it means nothing until you hear the music. Some parts are bombastic and get into a repetitive groove, slowly burning their way into your brain. Other parts represent straight forward rockers. The only reason why this doesn't get a full five stars is that about 2/3 of the way through the disc, the vocals begin to wear on you: the lyrics are "sung" in a hoarse, shouting fashion, which works great for some bands, but not this one. This is probably just me being picky about stylistics, as I'm sure many fans of 1.6 Band will say they rather enjoy the vocals.Tracks that stand out: "Squelched" and "Let me Breath." Great music if you're a fan of Circus Lupus and similar bands."
