Things are slow here. Seems that a lot sign up and then maybe disappear. I know when I first signed  up I hated how it worked, and then just ignored all the CD requests I got. I didn't realize what I was doing to others, though. Had I know I would have just cleared my tower.

Either way, even if someone immediately agrees to ship, expect to wait. They usually take as long as possible to ship, which all equals out to be like 7 or 8 days. Kind of lame, but shit's cheap! =)

I did. Haven't heard anything back. Sadly, I voiced this opinion on just one of the CDs because I clicked the wrong goddamn button for the second! =(

My first battle begins soon. I just got two promos from th same sender. Locomotive Records promos, which are the real CD and cheap color inserts, with ink the rub off one your fingers. I'm not paying for these. No way in hell.

SwapaCD needs to change this wording. I have some very cheap promos where the cover (never a booklet, always a one-panel cover insert) and back insert are printed either on a black and white printer, or your everyday color printer. The CDs, while silver, with artwork, are cheaply made, to the point where they even feel lighter. Who the hell wants to be getting things like that through this site, and be forced to pay for it?

This is a mistake lala.com would make. I am for allowing promos, but there has to be restrictions that state the promo MUST be identical to the retail version of the CD—booklet, CD, artwork, tracklisting, etc. Some promos come with different artwork, so users could maybe PM each other in that instance. Either way, the rule should be that retail CDs marked as PROMOTIONAL, whether on the disc or booklet, or both, are allowed. No other promo should be.

Who wants to receive a promo in a cardboard sleeve? Who wants to received a promo that has the front and back art, all the correct tracks, but those 12 tracks are split up into 99 tracks. Or who wants to receive a promo with voiceovers?

This rule needs MORE!

That's the worst thing about this recent upgrade. They went lala on us with the all versions under one title crap. Not every CD, of course, but too many.

Some CDs I buy from used bins have folded back art. As a reviewer, I also get folded back art in the mail from overseas. Labels/bands fold the art to fit into plastic sleeves, as it's cheaper to mail a disc out without the jewelcase. Obviously reviewers and such sell these CDs often enough, they end up in used bins, I buy them and trade them (or keep them) and then have to listen to someone whine to me about it.

This is why I now disclose everything to the person receiving the disc. If there's a price sticker on the booklet, a hole-punch, a scuff, whatever, I tell them and ask if they still want it.

That entry is a little deceiving to new members.

Only the original CD is required for posting. artwork and the jewel case are not required.

That line in particular. For someone new, it could confuse them and have them sending just a CD to someone that has asked for full art. Yeah, the person posting the CD would have to select that they have all the art, but it could happen. Probably has, as I've gotten a few discs without art, though I require it. Also, there are a lot of dishonest traders at lala that deceive the receiver on purpose; some even gloat about it. So one of those people coming from there to here is likely to pull that crap.

I keep getting notification of "Wishes Granted" for CDs I have no idea why I'd have requested them. In the past week I've gotten two for CDs that I've owned since they were released. Is this because of the database change somehow? Maybe I was once requesting a version with bonus tracks that's no longer in the system? I don't know, but it's odd.

This CD needs to be marked as mailed within the next -338,520.2 hours. (Even if you mail it tomorrow)

Slave to Thy Master Slave to Thy Master
El Duce
Request Options: Disc, Front and Back insert

If you are unable to mail the CD by this time, then this CD request will be given to another member.

Please note: If you have sent a Personal Message to the other member about mailing your CD after 1/6/1970 11:30 PM EST and you both have agreed to do this, then you must click that the CD has been mailed (even if you have not mailed it) so that the system will not pass this request on to another member. Why is this a problem?

For the record, there is no such thing as "slow internet."

How do those e-mails slow things down? Buy a new PC if an e-mail is slowing things down. Time to upgrade.

Cut-outs and hole-punched CDs should not be considered promos here. I can appreciate a "no promo" policy in general, though. If you allow promos at all, you're bound to have people send the cardboard sleeve promos, or the CDRs, or the 99-track promos, etc. But cut-outs and hole-punched CDs should be completely acceptable.

I generally listen to music on my PC. But if a track skips, I test it on my regular stereo and my truck stereo. A skip on one device may not be a skip on another. You have to remember that not a lot of CD drives were made to be used as a stereo would, so you'll find a lot of CDs that will skip—or sometimes not even play—in a CD drive will not skip elsewhere.

Just add as you go. I started using this site a year after I began using lala and felt the same way. But on lala I have 3,298 wants; here I have 3,999 wants. I added some every day. Still do. That's basically the only way to do it, as far as I know. Haha.

A lot of the CDs I ship have black Xs or price stickers (sometimes both) in the upper right-hand corner of the booklet. The used shop near me does this, and that's where I get a lot of my trade fodder. I usually PM everyone before I ship and tell them about it. No one has asked me to cancel the trade.

I have no doubt, however, that some of them probably marked the CD as "damaged by sender," even though they said it was okay. Too many dishonest people out there for that not to have happened at least a few times.

I have over 500 unmatched CDs. Haha.

EDIT: Scratch that. Weirdness. I only have 108 now, but a few hours ago I had like 523. I went through about 10 at work, but it was slow going so I stopped. Wonder if they're still actively updating the database?

This sure as hell ain't no "other trading site." Yeah, not updating the database for 6 months sort of sucked, but otherwise this site gets an A+.

I don't think the database has been updated at all in 2008.

Haha. Take your trouble-making nonsense back to lala, Az. You're taking my comments about what I did when I first joined entirely out of context. Moreover, that doesn't even apply to the subject of this thread, which is not, in case you missed it, about ignoring requests and letting them expire.

But it allows them 5 days to respond and then another 5 days to ship.
