"this album has been out for 9 years and this is the first review? shameful!

call me up and shes the one are classics. the rest of the album is very good. i havent ever been to a world party show, but now that the band is touring again, im looking forward to my first."

Quite possibly World Party's best album.

"Goodbye Jumbo is often referred to as Wallinger's finest hour, but Egyptology is well worth your time and attention. The song-writing is superb, the Beatle references abundant, and there's even a foreboding, Dylanesque track that takes you deep into a mummy's tomb for a lesson you may not be ready for...



And if that's not enough, there's more.



While I will concede that 'She's the One' is among the most beautiful love songs ever written,'Hercules' is the show stopper on this album. Like many things that catch us off guard, this song arrives in medias res, projecting the wearied voice of one who has lived through hardship, the voice of one who has come back to tell the tale. It is a brutally stark song, one that lifts you up and out of your stupor, sharing a powerful yet simple message of self-preservation that may seem obvious but bears repeating nonetheless.

"Listened to this wonderful album this morning and, as always, I'm reminded how wildly talented Karl and crew are. I saw them over a decade back when they were through town promoting Egyptology and it was wicked. One review said the band sounds like what the Beatles would sound like if Prince and Dylan were members, and I've used similar analogies myself. The problem with such comparisons, though, is it makes it would like World Party is a retro wannabe band, which they aren't by any stretch.
