CD Reviews

Can't Get Much Better Than This

"In the summer of 2002 I was lucky enough to go to a Five For Fighting concert. Wayne was opening for them, and at the time i had no idea who Wayne was. Not only was Wayne amazing, they were 10 time better live than Five For Fighting. This is the only CD I have ever purchased because of a live show, and also the only CD i have purchased as soon as it was realeased. This is only one of the few hundred CD's I own, but I can say it is the second best CD I own, behind Nine Days' The Madding Crowd. This CD is a true gem and is a real example of CD perfection. You won't be able to take it out of your CD player."
Birmingham Band's Big CD

""Music on Plastic" is an excellent CD. This 2002 release on TVT with the brown cover is a re-release of what I call the "naked Indian" cover version on the Alliance CD. A track off the earlier CD that I don't have called "Noose" has been deleted with three new tracks added. They are "Be This Way, "With Regards" & the Beach Boys' influenced "Temporary." Except for Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" that is done as a hidden track on #13, all the tunes are Wayne originals. The first two openers "Slow Down" and "Shooting at the Stars" open with great electric guitar storms that might be at home in an R.E.M. set. "Whisper" has a unique melody with a mix of electric & acoustic guitars. "Take Me Home" is a delightful one & a half minutes with a retro acoustic sound complete with pretty harmonies. "Figure It Out" is dark & dreamy while "Be This Way" is a great midtempo pop tune that brings to mind the wonderful "Reunion" by indie pop band Jonah. "Head Up" starts with a thumping bass that sounds like it's on loan from Sergio Leone or Johnny Cash before the guitars thunder and crunch. "With Regards" is a Beatle-influenced track with pretty chiming acoustic guitar. "Most of this is filler, use it any way you please," Michael Swann sings with vocals that bring Brian Wilson to mind. "All In All" is another sweet track with a pretty sense of melody. Wayne's CD starts strong & loud and ends more soft & pretty. They do both extremely well. This is a very satisfying set from a great band from Birmingham, Alabama. Enjoy!"
AWESOME!

"I first heard Wayne on the radio in my city (bham, al), and I thought they were pretty good.. Got the CD.. and WOW. They are great. The lyrics and music composition are just excellent, the guitarist is very talented! I got the chance to see Wayne live in concert.. It was great. I think that if they just got in with the right people, these dudes could make it BIG! I recommend this CD to anyone."
