CD Reviews

Good Soup

"Wow, what a great cd.I bought this cd very blindly as I had never had of the band and only relied on the recommendations. From the opening track you can feel the funk from this band and I agree with the other reviewers that its too close to the Rippingtons - good or bad ? 'Memphis underground and 'after the sermon' are my favourites. The DVD bonus also helps to you to feel the funk. Cant wait for their next project."
FUNKY FUNKY SOUP

"This a great CD. I agree with one reviewer that it had a touch of the Rippington's and I think they shoul lose that. The grooves are tasty and the funk is thick and steamy. This CD will have you out of your seat dancing one moment and sitting back licking your lips with some tasy vocals. Hopefully, this group will stick together and make the next CD even better. But this is a must have for all you that like a little funk with their jazz."
Best Soup in Town

"The ingredients behind Funk Soup make it the best soup in town. The work on this project is outstanding and was loved by the JazzeOne. I must admit the name Voodoo Village turned me off at first. But as the group said there was nothing behind it, it is only a name (I still would suggest a new name). However, getting past the name, the tunes are fantastic! The work on 'Memphis Underground' would make Herbie Mann proud. 'Come in out of the rain', 'After the Sermon', and 'Ayana' are extremely mellow sounds that will get you into a groove. 'Voodoo Village' and 'Bounce wit it' will get you rocking out of your seat. The rest of the CD is a nice blend of music to keep you tapping your feet and shaking your head. Sit back and order up some Funk Soup, it is the best in town. Oh yeah, the DVD was a nice bonus to help you appreciate the work on this project. ~the JazzeOne
