Synopsis

Product Description
The International rock icon s new album Tattoos & Tequila is a compilation of genre defining hits that have been given the Vince Neil rock renewal treatment and is sure to be an updated rock lifestyle staple. Neil s refreshed collection of classics consists of nine hand-picked, influential covers by such musical legends as The Sex Pistols, Elvis Presley and Creedence Clearwater Revival as well as two new tracks; Tattoos & Tequila, and Another Bad Day, which was originally written by Nikki Sixx for Mötley Crüe s release of New Tattoo in 2000 and just missed the cut. The title song for the album captures Vince s signature sound with a contemporary feel that has been compared to current acts such as Cavo and Godsmack.

CD Reviews

3 1/2 stars- Tattoos & Tequila single
Tommy Morais | New Brunswick, Canada | 06/13/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I'll say it right away; I'm a huge fan of Motley Crue, there's no surprises there I suppose. I also followed Vince Neil's solo career after he was fired/quit Motley Crue, I liked his solo albums for what they were especially 1993's "Exposed". After his second album "Carved In Stone" (1995) Vince reunited with the Crue and has not released anything solo since then except one live album (which was all Moltey material and only one solo song) and a single "Promise Me" in 2005 which was supposed to be featured on an upcoming album that never quite happened. So here we are in 2010 as Vince Neil is about to release his first studio solo album in 15 years "Tattoos and Tequila", a cover album which Vince says sees him cover some of the artists who influenced him like Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, ZZ Top and Scorpions. The album contains 10 covers and two new songs including the title track and "Another Bad Day". The new single "Tattoos and Tequila" is available for free on Amazon or from Vince's official website (you get the video as well from the website). Neils' upcoming biography due latter in 2010 is also called "Tattoos and Tequila".

Okay the lyrics to the song are not innovative at all but it doesn't really matter its good time rock what's wrong with that? Not everyone wants to listen to a song with a complicated story or one of incredible depth( even if I thought that Vince's single "Promise Me" showed a lot of depth from his part), well not all the time. It's a cool summer track in a way and the chorus is a little cheesy but catchy. The musicians playing with Neil this time around are Jeff Blando on guitar and Danna Strum on bass both from Slaughter along with Zolthan Chaney on drums. I definitely like the guitar work it sounds very good, Vince's voice sounds excellent as well (I don't if he used pro-tools on his voice or what but he sounds great anyway) and with those lyrics there's no question that it's Vince Neil!

I don't think "Tattoos and Tequila" will really impress anyone and at this point in his career I don't think Vince really cares about that, but I think it's a good song and that fans will like it for what it is. It's not the best thing Vince's ever done but I still like it, however I can't give higher than 3 ½ stars, interesting song but not entirely satisfying."
Bit of a shocker.

"When I first heard that Vince Neil would be doing a solo project like this, I was skeptical, depsite loving Nikki and Tommy's solo projects. However I'm totally willing to admit that my skeptisism wasn't necissary. Where most artists that go solo rely on previous popularity and old fan-bases, Vince Neil relyed on nothing but his raw vocal talent. Perhaps the fact that it's Vince Neil of Motley Crue was the swaying factor that made me buy the album, but I know that even if it wasn't Vince Neil, this album would be an undoubted success! More than impressed, definately a five-star performance from one of the best vocalists around!"
Great Cover Songs!
