CD Reviews

Impressive debut album
Drew Wutke | Huntington, IN USA | 02/02/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Yesterday, Today, and Forever" is a good sign that the worship movement is attempting to fix the "me" mindset.

Vicky Beeching's lyrics are theoligically sound, scripturally rich, and devotionally challenging. If taken as a true written reflection on one person's experience with the great Creator Redeemer God of the world, the listener really can learn from the writing on this album. Its pop-rock/worship/CCM stereotypical sound aside, Beeching gives a refreshing take on worship songs, most of which are written solely by herself. Standouts include "Call to Worship," "Nothing Is Impossible," and "Captivated."

This is the above-average State-side debut of a worship leader from the UK. (Beeching has previously released two different short collections) If you're looking for mild worship rock music that is not only easy to listen to, but textually rich, "Yesterday, Today, and Forever" is at the top of the list. The depth of the lyrics make all the difference on this album. An impressive worship debut that female leaders should be proud of- they are under-represented in the Christian worship movement."
Worship Music , kicked up a notch!
D. M. Porterfield | Camp Hill, PA USA | 06/18/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard Vicky's "Turn Your Eyes" on the radio and was immediately hooked by her crystal pure vocals and the clever twist of an old classic hymn interwoven with other lyrics and given a first-person twist that took me out of the realm of spectator and drew me into the worship experience firsthand. I had to get her CD. Well, when I saw the cover of it, I have to admit that I was a little leery that I might be getting an album of hard rock. I'm almost 57 years old and, while I like most types of music, I find some of the heavier rock groups, Christian bands included, are more noise than music and just darn hard to pick out the words. But boy, was I pleasantly surprised. This CD is great! Each song has lyrics that just cut right to the core of our thirst to connect with an Almighty and Awesome God. And each song has a really great beat, too. Did I mention that? After all, I AM a child of the '60's and I don't like things TOO quiet and introspective. So, if you like your worship music intelligent, infectious, joyful, and rockin'....you'll want to add this CD to your collection."
