CD Reviews

Fun Christmas Album
M. Pisano | 11/18/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bought this album a few days ago mainly for the reason I'm a huge fan of Jack Johnson and everyone on his label, but also for the reason i love Christmas music. I would say that this is a great buy for anyone who loves the relaxed sound of Jack Johnson. It nice to hear some of your favorite artist sing songs that you've heard your life and for me this will just add to the wonderful collection of Christmas music i already have. The only complaint i have with this album is the length it very short and none of the songs go over 4 min, but hey what Christmas songs do. Overall this album will serve as a nice listen this holiday season and hopefully some of these songs will get some radio play. Jack Johnson version of "Rudolph" is great and is definitely one of my favorite versions of the song. ALO's song "Christmas time" will also catch your attention due to its fun mellow jam sound. As for the rest for the songs i don't believe i can say one bad thing about them. There all great and fun to listen to. Plus the wonderful things about this album is that 25% of the profits of this record will go to spreading musical education to kids."
Great music for a good cause, too

""This Warm December" is the first volume of what hopefully will be a long-standing Christmas offering from Brushfire Records artists. The CD is 11 songs, somewhat short at a bit over 31 minutes, but the songs are well done.

You've got a good mix of standards and covers. While the covers are good, I'm focusing mostly on the four new songs for the review.

"No Christmas for Me" by Zee Avi is a new song I think we're going to hear a lot particularly in love song dedications of people wanting their baby back. Avi sounds a lot like Madeline Peyroux to me with a very light jazzy voice.

"Stuck at the Airport" by Money Mark is another new song. Definitely a theme many of us can identify with.

"Christmas Baby" by G. Love is an upbeat, jazzy love song that we'll probably hear dedicated frequently.

"Christmas Time" by Al'oos is a new song despite the title being similar to others. It talks about family getting together, the plague of lights not lighting, etc. Definitely a very real Christmas experience.

Twenty-five percent of this collection's sales are going to support music education for youth. What a terrific Christmas gift and a way to give back to the community from the proceeds of their success.

"This disk is a fresh and new way to look at Christmas music. If you are familliar with Jack Johnson, and like his sound you will not be disapointed with his songs on this disk. You will also enjoy all of the other artists on here too. Bushfire has some very talented artists and the acompilation here proves to be symbiotic one.

GREAT DISK, GREAT SOUNDS and leaves you with the WARM AND FUZZY Feeling of the HOLIDAYS.

Merry Christmas Everyone"
