Synopsis

Album Description
In conjunction with the 25th Anniversary of the legendary Café Del Mar in Ibiza, Resist re-issue the much sought after and timeless Café Del Mar volumes 1, 2 and 3. Originally released in 1994, Café Del mar set the standard as the first ever ?chill out? compilation, not to mention the first ever Ibiza compilation; spawning hundreds of copycat albums. Originally released before the mass marketed commercialism that Ibiza is known for now, Cafe del Mar 1, 2 and 3 encapsulates the mythical sunset experience. Compiler and then resident Jose Padilla brings together classic full length, unmixed tracks from artists such as Underworld, Sabres of Paradise, A Man Called Adam, William Orbit, and Nightmares on Wax. These new editions of Café Del Mar retain the original artwork, but are presented in a deluxe slipcase.

Soothing stuff

"The first cafe Del Mar I ever purchased and probably the best. Combining happy-mellow tunes with a selection of more sombre moods. Throw in a typical Spanish influence every so often and there you have it. Check out 'Haunted Dancehall' (track 13) and 'Sargasso Sea' (track 8). This is music made for sunsets. Get down to the coast, whack this on and chill out to some of the most beautiful ambient music available - a real soul cleanser. If you're in with the Cafe Del Mar thing, you'll know all this for yourselves. Any new listener should make this their first buy out of the 6 currently on the market. Enjoy."

"first cafe del mar compilation i ever purchased and probably the best. one of those albums that you can listen to for its whole duration, it combines happy-mellow tracks with songs of a more sombre mood. throw in the odd typical spanish sound and there you have it. check out 'haunted dancehall' (track 13) and 'Sargasso Sea' (track 8). very summery feel - one for sunsets! get to the beach (early evening), whack this on and chill to some of the most beautiful ambient music available."
Ibiza on Ice (Chilled + Very, very cool!)

"This is an album of very good feeling. At first, I was sceptical of this album; I wasn't sure it would be able to better first volume. Sure enough after hearing the chilling sounds of: Sabres of Paradise's Orchestral 'Haunted Dancefloor'; the sublime, more upbeat poetry of Paco De Lucia's, no-frills Spanish guitar and bong piece 'Entre Dos Aguas'... I was convinced. I feel like with the other café del mar compilations, outside Ibiza, José Padilla and the music associated with him have not basked in the sunlight of recognition deserved. Café del mar 1 may have the slight edge - but the feel is not lost here - and there are, like in every volume- a few exceptional gems."
