Good mixing, Incredible track selection
Sean Barrett | Champaign | 05/16/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this because Pistol Whip while popular, is an incredible track and the other mixes featuring it had most of the same songs that appear on every mix complilation. Now having learned about who Mark Tabberner is, I feel kind of foolish that I didn't know of him before. This is not an upbeat mix, it is a gripping, mind-controlling piece that tears everything good and bad from the air around you leaving you focused on the musical violence that you have been incorporated into. Outside of "Pistol Whip", the other two tracks that Ryan was involved in are stand out, and the tracks from Deepsky are what one would expect from Blum and co. The Light track does not fail as miserably as I would expect an electronic track that attempts to incorporate hip-hop vocals. (I suppose Del shines on Deltron 3030, but Dan the Automator utilizes beat that are hip-hop-esque and Del's lyrical ability and flow have been cultivated through his solo career). In fact, I must say I enjoy "Expand the Room". The Sandra Collins track has done nothing except to further strengthen my opinion that she is extremely overrated, at least as a producer. At any rate, this album is an utter masterpiece and you should pick it up and play it consecutively hundreds of times as soon as possible."

"Very solid mix CD.. much better than all the generic Trance Anthem garbage that comes out every week. These songs are on the harder side- the opener by Kaistar is twisting acid trance followed by The Light's Expand the Room, with a nice vocal (not typical femme-crooning, but rather, a male rap). There are 3 tracks by Josh Ryan, who always pleases... same with the 2 by Deepsky. Overall, it's well mixed, and the set follows a nice progression. Worth the money."
