CD Reviews

Musical delight
H. L. Buckery | New York, NY | 12/13/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a nice compilation of artists. The sounds range from sacred, O Holy Night by Yolanda Adams, Silent Night, Holy Night by Bebe & Cece Winans and Now Behold the Lamb By Kirk Franklin,to upbeat and funky, This Christmas by Dru Hill & Christmas In Hollis By Run-DMC to beautifully harmonic sounds of Let It Snow by Boyz II Men & Oh Little Town of Bethlehem by Take 6. There are 14 titles in all and they each give a different joyous feeling. This is a very nice cd, one that I think you will enjoy."

(3 out of 5 stars)

"This compilation features R&B Christmas songs recorded between 1985 and 2000. Contemporary R&B isn't really my bag, but this isn't bad. Run-D.M.C.'s "Christmas in Hollis" is a classic, of course. Dru Hill does a very good version of "This Christmas". Whitney Houston's version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is quite good. And Take 6 does a great a cappella rendition of "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem". The other songs are ok, but the ones I mentioned are my favorites. If you enjoy modern R&B, you will probably like this CD a lot."
