A Country Music Journey Thru Gospel - An Enjoyable voyage!

"Country Artists + Gospel Tunes = Deep-Down Feel-Good! This is a great sampling of "Country does Gospel." Contains a nice variety of artists, and excellent song picks!"
Brilliant Interpretations Of Traditional Gospel Tunes

"With artists ranging from Pam Tillis to the Fairfield Four, you should expect quite a wide spectrum of sounds to be on this album. That's exactly what you get. The best songs on this wonderful album are the ones that stayed relatively true to the original tunes. The best examples of which are "John The Revelator" by Lee Roy Parnell and the legendary Fairfield Four, "Farther Along" by Blackhawk and the high lonesome sound of "Walkin' In Jerusalem" as performed by Diamond Rio. Another very solid tune is Michelle Wright's version of "People Get Ready." BR5-49 also turns in a grand performance on "A House Of Gold."

I must single out one song as the best on this album. It's performed by one of the most important yet unrecognized singer/songwriters in Country Music, Radney Foster. This Texas native takes firm hold of "Oh Sacred Head, Now Wounded" and makes it both haunting and disturbing at the same time. It has become one of my all-time favorite hymns, and being that I was raised Southern Baptist and converted to Catholicism in 2000, I've heard plenty of hymns in my day.

If you enjoy that "Old Time Religion" sound, you'll love this album. The rest of the numbers are pretty good, but in my opinion none of them stand taller than the ones I've mentioned in this review."
