CD Reviews

Absoulutely essential if you are a fan of British comedy.

"Dead Parrot Society brigns together some of the most outstanding British comics. The selections are superb, from a brilliant rendition of Monty Python's "dead parrot" sketch and the classic "penultimate supper" debate between Michelangelo and the Pope to Peter Cook's hilarious "memoirs of a miner". This album is absolutely essential if you are a fan of British comedy."

"This CD purports to be the "best" of British comedy, but it doesn't really have enough scope. The recordings here are only taken from three seperate sources. Those sources are Amnesty International concerts, Private Eye magazine and The Portsmouth Sinfonia. So a lot of things were left out. I'm not going to bother mentioning what they could have included, because I'm not an expert on British comedy . Anyway, the majority of the material that is included here is funny. Of course, Monty Python needs no introduction. There is also Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Neil Innes and other comedians. Plus recordings by The Portsmouth Sinfonia, the self described "World's Worst Orchestra". If you are a fan of British humor, you should enjoy this CD, despite it's incompleteness."
