CD Reviews

CD gets returned tomorrow
Gary Daum | San Jose, CA | 05/20/2000
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I recently purchased the DVD version of Burn the Floor. Fantastic! The music was captivating. When I realized that I could also enjoy the music on CD I ran out and bought it. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! If you enjoyed the classic Louis Prima SING SING SING number on the DVD, you're going to be be very surprised to not find it on the CD. Likewise, why was the Andrews Sisters version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy used on the CD? It was too slow, sounded too dated and I kept wondering if my CD player was operating at the wrong speed. Horrible! Okay, I can accept having numbers on the CD that weren't on the DVD but at least give me the songs that inspired me to buy it originally. It goes back to the store for return tomorrow."
Guaranteed to get you dancing

(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you're looking to work off a few extra pounds in the New Year or just to start dancing, then this CD is for you. I would have given it five stars across the board if it were not for the absence of

Louis Prima's "Sing, Sing, Sing" and the rendition of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by the Andrews Sisters, which was not the one heard in the epic production of "Burn the Floor." Having said that, everything else on the CD is winner. The 30's Section Medley: Cheek To Cheek..Let Yourself Go..Top Hat, White Tie And Tails by The London Musicians Orchestra is a keeper. Perfect for brushing up on your waltz technique, it's original and quite infectious.

The swing selections are powerful and unless you don't have a pulse, your toes will be tapping right away. It's all leading up to the huge finale of the show "Hot..Would You Dance With Me" done with sparkling brilliance by the London Musicians Orchestra. It's been eight years since the birth of Ballroom for the 21st Century and I still can't get enough of this music. Those in Australia, Burn the Floor's World Tour kicks off on 23, February 2007 at the Canberra Theatre. The new revamped production by Jason Gillikson who was so instrumental in the debut of Burn the Floor is all new and well worth the flatter. This performance will be video taped. ENJOY!"
As good as the show

"If you have seen the TV video or the live show, you must have the CD to keep your toes tapping. Incidently, the shows, unlike Riverdance, vary from performance to performance."
