CD Reviews

Mi mejor salsa caballero
Bengt Persson | Uppsala, Sweden | 05/26/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When I was on vacation in Ibiza (meditarranian island) I heard, when walking past hundred bars whith techno att over 120 dB screaming out from their insides, a distant blissful sound of salsa. I heard when entering the bar that it was no ordinary "euro-salsa". The bar-man (a cubano) was very pleased that I knew the difference. the nice music was performed by someone called David Calzado & La Charanga... He wouldn't let me buy the CD but luckyly enough I had a friend that was of to Cuba and I orderd the record "Pa' que se entere La Habana" and as a bonus I also got "tremendo delirio". I have been listening to nothing else ever since, and this was one year ago. Gracias mi mejor salsa caballero Calzado"
Can't Tell a CD from its Cover

"Don't let the perfectly awful cover art throw you. This CD is well worth having. The music is truly special. This genre of Cuban music is for those thinking all salsa sounds basically the same, and wants more sophisticated composition."
The Best Latin Dancing Music
ANDRO PINEDA | MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA.USA | 02/22/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm a 100% cuban,a frustrated musician and i can tell you there's no better music than cuban musicians does.Beside of my procedence anybody who knows about this business can say the same. Here's an example David Calzado y "La Charanga Habanera" a truly spectacle on stage dancing, playing and singing with there agressive rhytm a mix of son with the big bands music like earth, wind and fire and the comodores. In a few words the best of the tropical music like everything we do and something that is not divulgated in this country for known reasons.
If someone's agree with me e-mail me and it'll be a pleasure for me.Thank you(...)"
